Simon's family lived in India around 1992, where almost every household used stainless steel tableware. For us, this is the ideal replacement for plastic: stainless steel is indestructible, BPA-free, and easy to keep clean. But most importantly, it's much better for the earth and for your own body.
Since their time in India, Simon's family has used the tableware every day, and they plan to continue doing so for the rest of their lives; it simply doesn't break. Simon has traveled to India twice a year since he was born and has continued to do so. Friends and family often asked him to bring those handy stainless steel lunchboxes, plates, and bowls for them.
A few years ago, Thijs accompanied Simon to India. When Thijs saw Simon buying stainless steel tableware there, he wondered why it was so hard to find in the Netherlands. We looked online and noticed that there was little supply, and what was available was very expensive. As a result, people often opted for plastic again, at the expense of their own health and that of their children.
We wanted to change this. We decided to sell stainless steel tableware ourselves with a clear mission: to help as many households as possible switch from plastic to stainless steel.
Simon went to India to find the right partner. The supplier not only had to use safe and certified stainless steel but also treat their staff well. After days of walking through the stainless steel district in India and checking hundreds of stainless steel plates and cups, he found the ideal supplier. We immediately bought in bulk to keep prices low for our customers.
Once back in the Netherlands, we decided to do everything ourselves, from product photos to building the website. The more we do ourselves, the cheaper we can keep our products and the more people we can help make the switch to stainless steel.
